Aims: Improving self-care among the elderly with hypertension is crucial for managing their health condition. Designing and evaluating effective educational models can contribute to enhancing their knowledge and behaviors related to hypertension management. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an effective educational model to improve self-care practices among elderly individuals with hypertension.
Materials & Methods: This experimental research employed a research and development approach to design an educational model for elderly individuals with hypertension. The study included 30 participants to assess changes in knowledge following an educational intervention using the developed model. A t-test was used for statistical analysis.
Findings: During the development phase, expert and practitioner validation was conducted using the Delphi technique, which confirmed the suitability of the model. The implementation and evaluation phases included one-on-one and small-group trials. The educational model effectively improved self-care behaviors related to hypertension among the elderly (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The development of an effective educational model has the potential to significantly improve self-care practices among the elderly with hypertension, thereby supporting better health management in this population.
